Session Description:

“The Truth is Out There: Conducting Effective Workplace Investigations”

You’ve seen the TV shows – Columbo, NCIS, Murder She Wrote, Sherlock Holmes, Magnum PI -- but how confident are you in your ability to conduct an effective workplace investigation?   Increase your confidence by learning best practices and improving your skills at this important workshop.

Investigations of employee complaints can be complicated. When handled properly, the process often avoids costly litigation and judgments and resolves organizational conflict. However, failing to conduct a needed investigation, or doing so incorrectly, can have dire legal consequences.

A workplace investigator must be well trained, impartial, thorough, and understand the importance of confidentiality, the investigative process, documentation and employment law.  In this hands-on workshop, you will observe a case scenario and an intriguing cast of characters.  You will play the part of the investigator and analyst to review the evidence and draw conclusions.

The second part of the program will introduce you to the new CIS Learning Center, and the free online training options available to CIS-member managers, supervisors and employees.
