Local Insurance Agents and CIS Local insurance professionals are important partners of CIS in providing services to CIS-member entities. While the CIS Trust does not appoint local agents as a sales force to produce business, members are encouraged to engage the services of local insurance professionals to act as an additional local resource to help reduce risks and control losses. CIS values its relationship with agents, and has since the inception of the CIS program. In this short video, CIS Member Services Manager Penny Marlette describes the role of agents in working with CIS members. Members choose their agents, define the services that the local agents will provide, and the method of compensation. As a courtesy to members, CIS collects from the member the designated amount of agent compensation as part of the annual renewal invoice, and pays agents accordingly. CIS has prepared an Agent Toolkit to provide agents currently serving CIS members with the information and resources necessary to help meet their clients' needs. CIS provides agent training at its Annual Conference and at the CIS/SDAO/PACE Agent's Conference. The agents listed below have attended either one or both of the CIS-sponsored conferences in 2012.
